It consists of four questions on a series of ten questions. In the Student Behavior section, students will be given the opportunity to choose from a variety of various choice options. They will then be asked to answer a set of questions to determine their behavior. The multiple-choice questions are based on a certain pattern and a student can earn multiple choice points. Understanding the Types of Tutoring Services in Cincinnati

Understanding the Types of Tutoring Services in CincinnatiTutoring services in Cincinnati are used for a variety of reasons. Some families use it as a way to support their children by getting the required guidance and assistance. Other families may find it helpful for their business needs. It is important that parents get proper advice when teaching their children. If you are not sure whether to opt for tutoring services in Cincinnati or whether you should set up your own, there are some things that you should consider. There are several organizations that offer such tutoring services in Cincinnati. Here are a few of them:Tutoring in Cincinnati offers a range of opportunities for students. Those who need to be tutored include students from preschool to high school level. Tutors who are certified in all subjects will teach the subjects that they have acquired from schools. When you are looking for tutoring services in Cincinnati, keep in mind that the organizations will charge you based on the area where you reside. So, if you live in one of the more urbanized areas, the fees will be higher. However, if you live in a relatively less populated area, the fees may be lower. If you have a large family, there is the possibility that you may end up moving your family to a place that does not have a nearby school. This can be quite frustrating, especially if you are the type of person who enjoys having a sense of independence, so you might consider moving to a place that does not have any local schools. This can be especially frustrating because you are spending money on the traveling, the hotel and the other necessities of the teaching profession. It is very likely that if you move to another city, you will never have the opportunity to meet your former teacher. The best way to ensure that you will get the best possible rates is to look for tutoring agencies that offer better rates than the ones offered by the local public schools. In fact, there are many agencies that can give you higher rates than a school teacher can. However, if you are not sure whether or not you can handle the responsibilities of a teacher, then you can try searching for tutoring agencies that are actually non-profit.

Ear Training Exercises 7 Ideas for Guitar Players

Ear Training Exercises 7 Ideas for Guitar Players Suzy S. If you havent heard yet, The Black Keys are taking the music industry by storm their newest album El Camino is out this week, and they put on an awesome performance on SNL over the weekend.   And the best part?   This is just pure, straight-up rock and roll.   With rock music suffering within the music industry, this may be just what the genre needs to rise to the top again. As for you guitarists out there: Although its possible to learn a few John Mayer jams on the guitar and not even touch a music theory book, there is one thing that will bring your playing from just ok to legendary.   And you already have all the tools you need for it: your ears!   If youd like to take your guitar playing to the next level, start working on ear training.   After all, music is all about what goes in your ear and youll notice it comes much easier when you recognize things like intervals, pitches and chords.   Once youve learned how to put what you hear in your head onto paper, the possibilities are endless. There are several ways to help with your aural skills here, Tom Hess over at MusicianTutorials.com, lists a few things to practice that will you help you along your way: 1. Turn on the radio and transcribe (figure out by ear) songs, chords, melodies, solos, etc. using your guitar. 2. Similar to above, try transcribing without using your instrument.   Write the music down on paper and then when you think you have it as close to accurate as you can get it, check your work with your guitar. Notice what errors you made and look to see if a pattern forms in your errors. For example, if you realize that you always think that minor chords sound like major chords, then you can see that this is something you will need to focus your practice time on. 3. Sing (yes, out loud) scales. Start with singing the major scale, later add the natural minor scale, harmonic minor scale, pentatonic scale, blues scale, etc. 4. Sing intervals. 5. Sing arpeggios start with major triads and then move on to minor triads. 6. Improvise melodies, solos, etc. over chords. This is great thing to do anyway. 7. Record yourself playing several different chords (just major and minor triads for now). Try not to repeat the same chord very often. Then, play back your recording and try to identify whether the chords you hear are major or minor. Just as your fingers need to learn the chords, your ear needs practice too so dont give up!   Pretty soon youll be able to pick out chords and intervals as youre listening to your favorite songs, which will make picking up the guitar and jamming that much easier.   While it may not be the most fun thing to work on, it will make you that well-rounded musician everyone hopes to be.   Want personalized training?   A private guitar teacher can always help.   Search for teachers near you here. And How Do You Want To Work?IT for beginners is everywhere these days, all you need to know is which software to download or which website to visit, and you will be guided with tooltips through the software, app or website. Some pieces of software even give you a virtual tour of your software so that you can feel as though you at least know how to manoeuvre to achieve the basics. Once you have had a look through the piles of software options how do you make the choice about which software is for you? It can easily be overwhelming and leave you feeling like either not making a choice or just choosing the first pc software within reach rather than what is best for you. However, there are 2 points to consider; the first is once you get used to software it can feel a bit odd for a while when you move on to use another. So it always worth taking the time to select the software that suits you best. The second point is that although all software differs slightly more or less, the software has the same functionality. One point is about the basics of your required functionality, and the other is about feeling. When you are making choices to integrate anything into your life, these are the 2 key points that will help you to choose. In this case, they will help you to select your word processing software. For example, I use three word-processing softwares; MS word, MS OneNote and Google Docs. Each serves a different purpose for me depending on what it is that I want to do.So as you see, pushing yourself to pick just one piece of software may not be the answer. Eventually, you could end up selecting software based on the things you like about it and how it fits into your lifestyle. For example, if you have issues remembering to save then you need a program with autosave functionality, if the spelling is your weakness then you will need a tool that has a good spell checker, If you can’t type due to a disability, then you must ensure that your software has accessibility options. No matter what, especially before investing in new software make sure it covers your needs. Knowing what it is that you need and what it is that you want to use the software for can go a long way in helping you to fine-tune your selection. Most software has the following features:Create text documents such as writing letters, reports, documents and articles with visual layouts.Live note taking such as taking notes during meetings or conferences,Multimedia presentations for seminars, visual presentations.or talks, using pictures, links, layout and text formatting. These functions are relatively basic PC software standards but meet the needs of most users. However, depending on your level of PC skills, you may have additional requirements or fewer requirements. For example, to get started with word processing as a beginner on the computer you don’t really need to invest in expensive software as free software will meet all of your needs. You do not even need to have the latest version of MS Word. But of course, your needs are only part of the story when selecting the b est software. As your preference actually makes up a huge part of your desition.Read more about the different PC shortcuts here. The Cost: Do You Prefer Free Or Paid Software? When choosing my software, I decided to buy the Microsoft office suite which also came with MS OneNote bundled in. It wasn’t cheap, but it was the software that I prefer to use, more importantly, it was software that allowed me to be extremely productive.MS Word industry standard for word processing software in offices around the world. Photo Source: UnsplashMS Word (Paid)Microsoft Word is the grandfather of all word processing applications. Additionally, it is the industry standard for word processing software in offices around the world. From the post office to the government, from the train station office to the bank. It has a stable infrastructure which has an intuitive menu which allows you to find things quickly, optimise for no distraction working, or collaborate with your team via the cloud. The benefit of MS word is that it is suitable for everyone, it is feature rich, but those features don't have to be used. You can choose to create simple or complex documents learning the basics as you go. The downside is that while there is an integrated spell checker, it is not the best. But (another upside) because you can personalise your software with add ons. A tool like Grammarly integrates well. Which allows you to have software that will gently lead you into the word processing world and grown with you as you gain confidence and skills in your document creation.MS Word is great for:Creating official or professional documents or lettersWriting long-form content like blog posts or booksCreating PDF documentsOpening files from other softwareFormatting and editingUsing templatesKey features of MS Word:Type and format textOpen, edit, save and print a documentOpen documents from other softwareCloud support and collaborative optionsAvailable for all operating systemsOther Software Like MS Wo rd:Libre Office (Free, open source)Open Office (Free, open source)Pages (Free, Mac only)Google Docs (Free)WPS Office (Free, open source)OneNote (Free)Onenote is an epic virtual notebook that I use more than any other office software. You can open new notebooks which organise your content into themes.Within your notebooks you create sections, and within your notebook's sections, you have pages. Each which help you further organises. The benefit of OneNote is that you can use it anywhere, online, offline, on your pc, on your tablet, your phone, on your friend's laptop. As long as you can log into your account which you can save in the cloud if you require multi-location access. Onenote also autosaves your work so you literally never lose anything. The only downside can be if you forget your log in and for some reason can’t log back into the software.Onenote is great for:Creative text document creationBookmarkingResearch and collating informationNote takingBrainstormingOrganising contentKey features of OneNote:Type and format textOpen, edit, save as new file type and print notebooks, sections and pagesOpen multiple windowsCloud support and collaborative optionsPreview sections and pagesScreen printing, web page clippingAuto reference inserted contentHandwriting and drawing featuresUse on any device via Software and AppOther Software Like Onenote:Evernote (Limited free account, Paid premium account)Google Keep (Free)Laverna (Free, Open source)The good thing about free software is that it is free and in many cases almost as good as or equally as good as its free alternatives. Paid software is good if you have specific requirements or if you need to use specific software. Also Paid software is likely to be maintained and actively developed. The decisio n here comes down you your wallet. The great thing is that you have lots of options and your final choice doesn't have to be one piece of software that does it all. Photo Source: UnsplashYour Feeling: What Do You Want To Use It For? And How Do You Want To Work?Whether you want to do some Note taking, Write letters, manage collaborations online or offline, Write a blog or Write a book. You will be using word processing software. But the great thing is that you have lots of options and your final choice doesn't have to be one piece of software that does it all.If you choose to you can pick one software to serve all of your needs. Or you can pick different software to suit each of the requirements that you have. Software to make professional documents, software for note taking, software for writing your book, You word processing is up to you, and you can be as creative about it as you want to be.Maybe you will open MS word and hate the layout and prefer libre office instead, Perhaps you want always to be connected to your documents over many devices, so you might choose Google Docs and install the app on your phone. The feeling you have when you try the software is not something that you can be told about it is something you will know once you have tried the software. In the end, the final decision about the software that you choose will not be down to the research that you do about it. But it will come from downloading, trying a software, liking it and deciding to integrate it into the software on your PC. Whatever you choose, happy typing and don’t forget to press save!

Basic Arithmetic, Equations and Examples

Basic Arithmetic, Equations and Examples Common Arithmetic Questions at Each Maths Level ChaptersArithmetic Laws and DefinitionsExamples Arithmetic at Different LevelsOnline Arithmetic Resources and Private TutorsFrom elementary math to high school math and beyond, arithmetic is a branch of maths that is present in mathematics courses at every stage of our academic life. For many around the world, however, topics in the hard sciences like math and science can often seem like insurmountable obstacles. With basic math becoming ever more important in today’s economy, the word problems and math skills that plagued us in the classroom are playing an increasing role outside of academia.Mastering basic arithmetic skills is something the UK has historically been unsatisfactory in. In fact, many believe that the UK is undergoing a skills crisis due to low reading and maths scores combined with poor adult training. While understanding arithmetic math concepts is an integral part of job security, it can also play a vital role in empowering your decisions. From politics to housing, maths is deeply entrenched in every important aspect of daily life, which is why many are turning to supplemental instruction in the form of tutoring. Whether you’re looking for an algebra tutor or general maths resources online, here’s what you need to know about arithmetic as well as some examples you can try at home.Finding UK's most sought maths tutors is easy on Superprof.Whether you're playing an interactive math game online or reading about maths - make sure to practice every day!a + b = b + aa x b = b x aYou can remember this law because of the word “commute,” because no matter the combination of numbers, these groups of numbers always “commute” together to the same place, or result. Here’s a numerical example:2 + 4 = 4 + 26 x 3 = 3 x 6This law also applies to percentages. For example, a% of b is always equal to b% of a. Here’s the rule in numbers which you can use to verify the rule:3% of 60 = 60% of 3Associative LawThe associative law deals with the fact t hat, no matter how you choose to group an addition or multiplication of numbers, the result is the same. The rule looks like this:(a+ b) + c = a + (b + c)(a x b) x c = a x (b x c)Looking above, you can see that it doesn’t matter how we choose to group or “associate” two numbers in a big addition or multiplication operation because the result is the same. Here is a numerical example:(2 + 4) + 3 = 2 + (4+3) which leads to 6 + 3 = 2 + 7(3 x 3) x 4 = 3 x (3 x 4) which leads to 9 x 4 = 3 x 12One of the reasons why this law is important is because often, it is easier or sometimes necessary to rearrange these numbers in a different order.Distributive LawThe distributive law is a bit more complicated but is probably the law that is used most often. It deals with the fact that when multiplying an addition of numbers, you can distribute the multiplier to each number being added first. In other words:a x (b + c) = a x b + a x cAs exampled above, the a is “distributed” to both b and c first and then both numbers are added. Again, these kinds of operations can make an operation easier. Here’s an example:3 x (8 + 9) is easier to solve when rearranged as 3 x 8 +3 x 9Here’s another way of using the same law in reverse:Instead of solving 13 x 6 + 13 x 4 you can solve 13 x (6 + 4)Learning more can often mean taking math instruction into your own handsExamples Arithmetic at Different LevelsFrom subjects like trigonometry to concepts like inequalities and linear equations, arithmetic is a vital skill for most math classes at every level. Whether you’re searching for a math tutor or are building your own progress plan, understanding the type and which level of arithmetic you’re struggling with can give you a better chance of achieving your academic and skill goals.Elementary LevelMath class at the elementary level involves many basic concepts that are the core standards you will use to build upon in more advanced math. One of the best examples of this can be seen through decimals.Decimals have many practical purposes, but the main way in which people learn the decimal is through fractions. In any maths program, you are likely to find some of the following examples.0.2 = 2/10 = 1/50.25 = 2/10 + 50/100 = 25/100 = 1/4Using the rules and concepts we already know, we can easily see that arithmetic forms the basis of all decimals. Two of the four main arithmetic operations, division and addition, can be used to find the answers. Keep in mind that in the decimal numbers above, the number 2 is in the tenths position while the number 5 is in the hundredths.Middle School LevelAt the middle school level, arithmetic gets another boost. Whether it’s 7th grade or 8th grade curriculum, some of the most common concepts involving arithmetic include square roots, linear equations, polynomial equations and inequalities, systems of equations and quadratic equations. In other words, middle school is filled with algebraic topics that can come in the form of pre -algebra, geometry, and more. Here is an example of one important topic you’re likely to find in middle school arithmetic: simplifying algebraic expressions.3x + 5(x - 6)The first step in this problem is to use the distributive law to get:3x + 5x - 30Next, we can add 3x and 5x together. Taking a quick look again at the distributive law, we can see why:x(3+5) is the same thing as 3x + 5xCombining all the concepts we’ve learned, we get the final answer:8x -30From here, we cannot simplify any further.High School LevelMaths at the high school level can vary a lot between students because of the fact that many students do not choose to take some higher level maths courses. Examples of the arithmetic you’re likely to encounter at this level include maths with rational expressions, math logarithms, polynomials, rational functions, exponents and trigonometric concepts. One common example of the arithmetic you can use at this level can be seen through matrices. A matrix is a way of arra nging numbers in columns and rows and has many practical applications in statistics, project management, computer science and more. Here’s an example of how to find the determinant of a matrix.A = [a b           c d]To find the determinant of a 2x2 matrix, we use the following equation: det A = ad â€" bc. Try to find the determinant of the following matrix:A = [2 4         6 3]College LevelArithmetic at the college level gets a bit more complex, involved in everything from differential equations to probability. A simple example of the arithmetic you’re likely to encounter, here’s how you can find the probability of two independent events A and B both happening.Let’s say the probability you will read this article up to this point is 1/16 (event A). The probability you will win the National Lottery is 1/45,057,474 (event B). What is the probability that you will read this article up to this point and will win the national lottery? Try calculating at home:Probability (ev ent A and B) = Probability (A) * Probability (B)Need help with plotting integers on a graph? A Test Prep Timeline for AP Exams

A Test Prep Timeline for AP Exams In 2014, the College Board Advanced Placement exams will take place during the first two weeks of May. It is a wise idea to determine your test date well ahead of time so you can begin preparing. However, as the majority of students enroll in an AP class prior to an AP exam, you may have begun your review in September. As the actual test date approaches, you will need to extend your preparations far beyond your required coursework if you hope to earn a high score. Here are some great tips for AP exam prep. Week One Ideally, your preparation for your AP test should begin one and a half months before the actual exam. For the first week of preparation, focus on gathering together all of your notes and relevant materials. Organize these materials in a way that makes them easy to study. For example, for a history test, sequence your notes from the earliest historical date to the most modern. For biology, consider ordering them from molecules and cells, to organ systems, to organisms, to ecosystems. Use this first week of preparation as your preparing to prepare week. Purchase any review books you may need, fill in any information you may have omitted, and ensure your notes are highlighted and organized. Week Two Your second week of preparation should establish what you do and do not know. Complete a diagnostic AP exam. As you progress through the exam, make note of any question that touches on an unfamiliar topic or to which you do not know the answer. Look at your final score, but rather than paying attention to the fact that you earned a 3 or a 4, determine which questions you answered incorrectly, which you made note of during the exam, and which you understood. Compile a list of your trouble topics and then flag their corresponding areas in your notes. Create a list of the areas in which you are most comfortable, and flag those as well. Deciding upon what you must study intricately and what you must only lightly review will save you time in later weeks. Weeks Three and Four In your third and fourth weeks of preparation, re-examine your notes and study materials, paying particular attention to the problem areas you previously flagged. At the conclusion of each topic, answer several AP exam practice problems to acclimate to viewing the material in a test format. Review any areas that are still difficult with a study group, teacher, or tutor. You should also begin learning how to respond to open-ended questions during weeks three and four. Locate essay or open-ended problems pertinent to the topics you have studied. After attempting the questions, grade them according to the AP rubric. Did you draw from the sources in your U.S. History Document-Based Question? Did you write the correct equations and additional information for your Calculus AB question before you solved the problem? This period of preparation should be your most intense. Here are 4 myths about AP exam prepthat you should be aware of. Weeks Five and Six In the fifth week of your review, sit for a complete AP exam, again flagging any challenging problems. Observe where you must still study. Note, too, where you have improved. Use the sixth week of preparation to solidify any lingering concerns. Answer questions about these topics, and tackle one last set of open-ended prompts before the test. Avoid a cram session the night before the exam, and arrive rested. Six weeks of hard work after a yearlong class prepared you well to succeed on this test.
